ECA History

For my Eibon Foundation fanfic, here is the history of the protagonist organization, the Earth-Cardassia Alliance, or ECA.

2420 AD and earlier:
The Cardassian Union and the United Earth Directorate engage in two devastating wars, that see tens of billions dead. A third war was on the horizon, but the arrival of the insectoid aliens known as the Shan put an end to this, by attacking both sides at once. In response, the two governments put aside their differences, and declare war on the Shan.

2446 AD:
After 26 years of war, the combined forces of Earth and Cardassia defeat the Shan, and occupy their homeworld of Shaggai. The Earth-Cardassia Alliance is founded some time during the war, and becomes the new government, with its capital on the planet Zarkilos Prime.

2446 - 2500 AD:
The expansion phase. The Earth-Cardassia Alliance goes on a manifest destiny across the stars, encountering and conquering several species, including the Nug-Soth, Rigelians, and Twi'leks. Despite being conquerors, the Alliance tends to leave its subject species to govern themselves. As long as the taxes are paid, and troops are provided, the Alliance lets them be. In 2497, the Alliance encounters the first race to offer true resistance. The Cerinians. After launching a sneak attack on Mygos II, the Cerinians provoke the Alliance into attacking. For seven years the war rages on. Despite having awakened a sleeping giant they have no hope of beating, the Cerinians make the Alliance fight for every inch of space.

2504 AD:
Alliance Triumphant! The Alliance Seventh Fleet, led by Admiral Alexei Stukov and Legate Corat Damar enters orbit of Cerinia, and forces their surrender. The royal family commits suicide, and a succession war begins. Eventually, Alliance-backed House Ryken emerges as the victor, and becomes the new royal family.

This is where the story of the Eibon Foundation begins...
